Detailed description of How It Works

MyGradeBook.Com is a website useful to teachers, students and parents in ALL levels and types of education. MyGradeBook.Com allows teachers to login at any time from any computer connected to the internet and do their gradebook work. While logged in, teachers work on their gradebooks by adding assignments, scoring homework, taking attendance, etc.

Teachers can assign passwords to students so the students and their parents can login to view their detailed grading summaries. The grading summaries are "live". In other words, the grading summaries are dynamically built when requested and reflect all scores and attendance information the teacher has entered up to the moment the summary is requested.

When a teacher logs off, they can click a button that sends automatic emails to all students and parents telling them that scores have been updated. Since no one wants to remember another password, the email sent to the parents and students contains a hotlink directly to their personal grading summary.

Using mygradebook addresses the ancient problem of students signing their own excuse slips. When teachers record attendance, they can click the "Send Email Notices" button so that automatic email notifications are sent to the parents of any student that is absent, tardy etc.

The enhanced teacher parent communication gained through the use of MyGradeBook.Com, reduces the need for teacher parent conferences and enhances student performance by providing additional motivation. The motivation comes in two forms. One form of motivation is the student's knowledge that parents can checkup on their performance, get instant notification when they are absent or tardy, see descriptions of upcoming assignments, and see comments made by the teacher about the student at any time. The students know they can no longer procrastinate or "stretch the truth". The second form of motivation comes from the student's ability to easily demonstrate that they are performing well in class. Many students like to show their "Student vs. Class" chart to their parents. The "Student vs. Class" chart shows a student's performance versus the class over time and can be hidden based on teacher preference. View a sample student summary.
